Arizona....

Here, from todays NY Times, is Timothy Egan's take on the goings-on in the Grand Canyon State.

Even now, after seven months of winter, as Tamar and I gaze at the snow falling outside our window in latest April, we would not move back to Arizona. Bisbee, charming, old hippie town Bisbee, well maybe. Big city Arizona.... No way. There's a there there, and it sucks.

Arizona reminds me of the difference between a hero and a dead idiot . . . sometimes it's not very much.

Arizona has given us some fine leaders and magnificent scenery. Sedona is one of the finest towns I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. Heck, my daughter-in-law grew up in Tucson.

But there is always bad that comes with the good. So let it be with Arizona. The new law is getting an awful lot of press but I believe the overall impact of the law will be minimal.
