Chris Hoy vs Lewis Hamilton? For real...?

I read this Bike Radar piece through twice trying to make sense of it, trying to imagine how a guy on a bicycle, no matter how talented and fit, could lap a road-race course as fast as a Formula One car driven by a champion. Take a look. See what you think....

Ah, but that's the rub. Were it a road course, the bike wouldn't stand a chance.

This, however, is a very tight course laid down *inside* a stadium, where there's no room for the car to get up to speed.

I'm betting the car never gets out of 2nd gear, and is on the brakes 1/2 the time.

J is absolutely right. As was not explained well in the earlier article, the race is on a tiny course in a stadium where agility is the key. Here's the URL of the Velo-News piece that makes it clear.
