I have noticed on the web a comment by Mr. Maynard Hershon in which he says: "Frankly, my dear, I have never wanted to ride across America." He is referring to a pedal bicycle. He did, however, once do something very close. I bear witness to the fact that, in approximately September of 1963, he traveled from Indianapolis to Palo Alto on a Honda 250. He was then, as he appears to remain, an extremely engaging fellow. - Peter Firestein
